Approved topic for this assignment is as follows:
Problem: Adult patients admitted to the hospital due to Covid-19 requiring oxygen are not being proned early. These patients often progress to needing higher oxygen requirements and/or intubation which requires transfer to the ICU.
Intervention: Implementation of a proning protocol
Comparison: Currently at the facility I am working in there is not protocol for proning. Individual healthcare providers manage their patients who are admitted with Covid-19 as they see fit.
Outcomes: If a proning protocol is implemented this may result in decreased length of hospital stay, decreased need for increased oxygenation, and decreased transfers to the ICU.
PICO: For patients diagnosed with COVID-19 admitted to the hospital who requires oxygen, does early proning therapy decrease the length of hospital stay, need for increased oxygenation, and transfers to the ICU compared to patients who do not prone early?
