A 250-word proposal for your long writing assignment, outlining the major ideas and argument you plan to confront.
long writing assignment details:
This essay must be between 1,500 and 2,000 words (no less,no more), and it must confront a major social question that was raised by one ofthe readings in this class. You will also be expected to do independent research, and to cite at least three readings or other pieces of media that were notassigned in this class. Your main goal as in your shorter writing assignments is to articulate a guiding thesis, and flesh out your argument through acomparative analysis of the materials you cite. But unlike in other writingassignments this semester, your thesis statement need not come toward the topof the piece. It can be placed wherever it is most effective, and best fits into theflow of the essay.
