An essential skill for graduate students is to learn how to read and understand the information in journal articles. This assignment is aimed to help students hone that skill set. For this assignment, please read the following journal article: , and complete a journal article analysis.
The Journal Article Analysis format: 3 major sections: purpose, findings, and application. For the purpose and finding sections, students are tasked with demonstrating an understanding of what was done in the study. Students will use the information from the article and do their best to put it into their own words. The last section (application) provides students the opportunity to provide original thought and demonstrate critical thinking of the information gleaned for the article. Please review the example below and use it as a template to follow.
Purpose: Describe the purpose of the study, as you understand it, in your own words. Items to include: What type of study was it? How many people were involved?
Findings: What was the author or author’s major finding(s)? Next, share the finding(s) or conclusion(s) as you understand them in your own words. Be sure to include and explain in your analysis if the finding(s) or conclusion(s) were reported in a consistent and/or clear format?
Application: How does the information from the article apply to a real-world setting?
