More effective policies should be developed to improve social inequality for persons with disabilities, the Americans with Disabilities Act(1990) has not done enough.

Critical Thinking about Social and Cultural Issues
Argumentative Essay
In this assignment, you will write a 5-6 page, typed,
double-spaced argumentative essay, in which you take a position on a social
issue. The issue can be one we discussed in class or another issue, but make
sure you choose a topic that debatable, not too broad, not too narrow, not too
unconventional, and important. If you have any questions about the topic shoot
me an email.
In this paper you should:
·
Provide background
information about the debate on the issue.
·
Define ambiguous
terms.
·
State your thesis
explicitly. This thesis will be a claim of policy.
·
Provide support for
your thesis. These will include claims of fact and will probably include claims
of value. You should have at least two sources per claim.
·
Make sure you connect
the support back to the claim. Why is this important? Why should I, or anyone
else, care?
·
Address the
opposition.
·
Keep in mind your
audience. Your audience is students in this class (don’t worry, they won’t be
reading it). This is a group of people who have strong critical thinking skills
but might not know a lot about the issue you are addressing.
·
Not have any logical
fallacies.
·
Pay attention to how
you use language. You should frame the issue so your audience will engage with
it without being evasive or dishonest.
·
Go out with a strong
conclusion.
·
Use proper citations
in MLA, APA, Chicago, or ASA (Go to

Here are some sources I found.
If these don’t fit I understand.  You
can use others.  Thought they were a good
start. 😊
