Presentation 2: Go to this EPA MyEnvironment . Search your environment by entering a location such as address, zip, city, county, waterbody, park name, etc. (e.g., 27713, Durham, NC or Piney Wood Park). Determine what environmental health hazards exist in your community.
Present your knowledge and awareness by answering the following questions:
What were your findings, any surprises?
What are the health implications for populations living in that community?
How does the community you reviewed compare with other state or national communities?
How can healthy environments be established and maintained in that community?
What are the actual or potential issues that highlight the intersections of equity, social justice and environmental health?
Present your findings to the entire class. You are not required to respond to your peers this week but we encourage you to listen to at least one other presentation. In lieu of the two points for peer responses, your presentation should include an audio (worth one point) and visual (worth one point) component. Presentations should be no more than 10 minutes in length. Best practice for presentations is to have minimal text per slide and to provide more in-depth information with your narration.
