Reading Response One: The Mind

Attached the two readings and an example.

Write Three paragraphs about Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by carol S. Dweck  Download Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by carol S. Dweck and “Mindfulness in Higher Education: Teaching, Learning, and Leadership” By Danielle Joy Davis

To compose your Reading Response, choose one of the prompts below:

Do you believe that the thoughts you hold about yourself affect your life?
What are the results of thinking that your intelligence or personality is something you can develop, as opposed to something that is fixed, deep-seated trait?
Do you worry about looking stupid in front of others, or do you not care what people think and ask questions anyway?

Instructions:
Begin your RR with a quotation.  The quotation must be located underneath a title created from your imagination.   Throughout your RR, you will explain the quotation without explicitly referring to it.  Remember, it is Dweck or Davis you are responding to not the quotation.  See the example RRs and the outline for format.
Responding is finding your own interpretation/analysis of what you have read; therefore, it takes critical thinking.
The purpose of the Reading Response is to practice reading critically, to understand issues and to discuss issues.  In college, a reading assignment is often only the first step in a complex series of activities that lead towards writing.  What you write will naturally vary from situation to situation and from reading assignment to reading assignment.  Reading plays a role in:

Writing to understand course content more fully
Writing to report your understanding of what the text says
Writing to Practice the conventions of a particular type of text
Writing to make claims about a text
Writing to extend the conversation.
