Connect the topic to a current event that is happening
Each week students will prepare a brief written synopsis of a current event in public administration. The current event examined may be taking place at the city, county, state or national government level. And, preferably, the event should relate to the topics that are being examined in the class session in which you present the synopsis. As such, write a sentence where you make the connection between the event summarized and the topic assigned for the class. Make sure you add the citation to your references. The written synopsis must be typed, double-spaced, and, at minimum, one-half page in length. The source of the current event in public administration must be reliable. For example, sources may be https://www.governing.com, https://patimes.org, The Savannah Morning News, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Washington Post, CNN, NPR, and the like. Please be sure to cite the source(s) of the information you are presenting in the text of the synopsis and pay particular attention to correct use of grammar, syntax and punctuation. Points will be taken off if these guidelines are not followed. The American Psychological Association (APA) writing style must be followed at all times, which requires a “References” section at the end of your paper. Upload the synopsis to D2L’s corresponding Dropbox before or by 6:00 p.m. on the day the assignment is due, and bring a copy (hard copy or electronic file) with you to in-class sessions in order to refer to it during our class discussion.
